Threshold experiences invite people to connect more deeply with each other.
OUR STORY.
Life happens fast, really fast.
Sometimes we need to stop, pause and connect with the people around us.
This is where Threshold comes in. Our experiences help you be the thoughtful, playful and deeply engaged human you want to be.
Threshold experiences will delight you and carve out meaningful time with those you love.
FROM RAIN TO GLOW
Rain: for babies and their carers was created out of a desire to create a communal space where new parents could slow down, notice and wonder together with their child.
It has been presented at venues across Australia, and has enjoyed sell-out seasons in Hong Kong, Macau and Lincoln Centre in New York.
The particular attention that each baby and carer are given as part of the installation is made possible by small audience numbers, creating a sense of intimacy, but also limiting the number of people who can experience the richness of the work.
As a company committed to creating moments of connection, particularly at life’s big moments, Threshold were interested in finding a way that more parents and carers could experience the work, and recreate the moments of intimacy and connection with their new babies.
10 years after its creation, Threshold were supported by ArtPlay, City of Melbourne and Bunjil Place, City of Casey to reconsider Glow as a digital experience that could be accessed by families without leaving their homes.
Together, Rain and Glow work in companion to each other, both honouring and celebrating new lives.
Glow is a Threshold experience, created by Zoë Barry, Liz Francis, Nikita Hederics, Mardi Thorpe, Alicia Stafford, Sarah Lockwood, Tahli Corin and Carolyn Bechervaise.
GLOW has been developed with the support of Bunjil Place,
City of Casey and ArtPlay, City of Melbourne.
ABOUT THRESHOLD
Co-founders Tahli Corin and Sarah Lockwood collaborate with a team of world-class artists, including visual and installation artists, art therapists, psychologists, composers, sound designers, digital gurus and technical wizards to create unique and interactive theatrical experiences.
Since launching in 2019, Threshold’s work has been experienced by thousands of people in homes across Australia and the world.
‘Mountain Goat Mountain’ a digital theatre work was created with the support of the Arts Centre Melbourne, Adelaide Festival Centre’s Dream Big Festival, Home of the Arts (HOTA) and Awesome International Children’s Festival. Innovative in its form, it has now been presented at Baboro International Arts Festival for Children, Spark Arts Festival (Leicester), Belfast Children’s Festival, Children’s Theatre Company and Filament Theatre (Chicago) with more seasons still to be announced.
‘Feather Quest’ is an interactive journey that shadows the life of a bird from the warmth and intimacy of the nest to the freedom of the wide-open sky. Guided by a beautiful set of cards, families are invited to gather treasures like a bowerbird, discover their family birdcall, and soar through the rooms in their homes. Originally commissioned by ArtPlay, ‘Feather Quest’ has also been presented through the Sydney Opera House and the DreamBig Festival.
In 2022, Threshold launched Glow - a digital subscription of creative and connective moments for parents and carers of new babies.
With a commitment to providing space for deeper connection, physical closeness and to help people to find the poetic or the playful in life, Threshold’s work has been featured in the New York Times, and received critical acclaim from publications in Ireland, London and Australia as well as delighting audiences with an innovative and accessible approach to theatre making.
